These photographs were captured while watching my mother’s 8mm films from the 50’s and 60’s. Family history, once tucked away, has been brought back to life on the screen in my living room. Formal dresses, dances, holidays, and outings on the lake all highlight the social celebrations and activities of the past that deeply draw me. This work addresses themes of an era in history that were defined by a spirit other than what we know today.
